Thabisa Mhlahlo
Provincial Coordinator
Thabisa Mhlahlo is a dedicated land rights activist, with a focus on women’s rights. Thabisa’s journey into activism was fueled by a desire to challenge the status quo and champion the rights of rural women who have long been marginalized in matters of land access and distribution since 2010. Since 2023, she serves the Alliance as the Eastern Cape coordinator.
Her activism centers around challenging the deeply entrenched inequalities in land ownership, where gendered division of household labour finds women confined to unpaid household responsibilities. Thabisa believes in inclusive land distribution policies and advocating for the active involvement of women in land development projects. She holds a certificate on community development practice and early childhood development from the Center for Social Development at Rhodes University.
